Some of you may be wondering what all of the various objects on this blog are. I will try to explain this to the best of my ability.
On top, of course, is the title of this blog. Clicking on the title takes you to the main blog page (or refreshes the page if you are already there).
Each post has a date, title, and content. Clicking on the title brings up the full post (with comments).
At the bottom of each post is a link to share the post to various social networking sites. These consist of Facebook, Google, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Slashdot, Delicious, Digg, Blogger, Wordpress, Google Buzz, and Yahoo! Buzz. If you would like to see additional sites included, please list them in the comments section. I would greatly appreciate it.
Follow the jump to read more.
Below this shows the time of the post. Clicking on this shows all posts published at that given date and time. As I typically only publish one post at a time, clicking on this link is not very useful (except as an alternative to clicking on the title).
Clicking on the number of comments redirects you to the comments section, where you can also add your own comments to the post. I have allowed anonymous readers to comment; the comment form appears just below the post instead of in a new window so that you can refer back to the post when commenting (in rude geek terms, RTFA). You can also subscribe to the posts by email.
Next to this is a link to email the post to someone.
Below that is a list of all of the labels for that post. Clicking on any of the labels brings up a list of posts with that label.
If you click on the post title, at the very bottom are links to subscribe to the blog by Atom and to read older/newer posts, as well as to create (a) link(s) to the post.
The top of the sidebar has an animated headline box showing the 5 most recent post headlines from this blog. If you so choose, you can freely import it into your own blog, MySpace page, et cetera.
Below that are links to subscribe to the RSS feed of the blog posts and/or comments. It gives options for subscribing through Google, Bloglines, Netvibes, Newsgator, My Yahoo!, and Atom.
Below that is a form to subscribe by email. All you need to do is type in your email address (and click "Subscribe") to get new posts in your email as they are published.
Below that are counters of the number of views for this blog and the number of RSS feed readers. Below that are 2 more RSS subscription links.
Below that is a search bar for this blog. If you type in any labels or other keywords, you get a list of all relevant posts.
As you well know, I am against the passage of ACTA. Clicking on the box labeled "Stop ACTA" in the sidebar will give a much more detailed and thorough explanation for why that should be so (than I could ever hope to give).
Below that is a list of people who follow this blog through Blogger/Google Friend Connect. If you also do so, you can get updates from my blog as they come.
Below that are, respectively, a list of popular labels and an archive of all of my posts (ever).
Finally, I have links for people to download Firefox and Opera, 2 browsers which I really like. I also wanted to include a link for downloading Google Chrome, but I couldn't find one.
You may have also noticed that some of my posts have "Read More" links on the main page. This is not to get more clicks for the purposes of statistics. It's so that more articles are visible (and thus clickable) on the main page (because I know many people won't scroll through long articles on the main page itself). (OK, I lied — it is for more views and clicks, but not in the predictable way.)
I just made this post to familiarize people with aspects of this blog that are not immediately recognizable/familiar. (And yes, I would greatly appreciate it if you could subscribe to this blog either through RSS or Google Friend Connect (or any of the other methods) and comment on these posts.)
Thanks!
